Modality of the practices

Curricular practices:
They are configured as integral
academic activities. They will have the same consideration as any other optional subject of the ETSETB. This means that you must enroll, have a tutor and evaluate and qualify. Previous authorization must be requested from the Deputy Director of Companies before starting the entire process.

Extracurricular Practices:
The student can carry out extracurricular practices throughout their studies. They do not form part of the syllabus or the academic record. They are, however, incorporated into the European Title Supplement.

Where can the practices be carried out?

Practices in collaborating entities, in companies, institutions and public and private entities, with a nationwide.


Practices in the own University, e in which it will be necessary to guarantee that the training received and the tasks that are carried out are fully related to the knowledge to acquire in the studies studied. These specific cases will be included in Annex 1 of the UPC Practices Regulations. In any case, the tasks of administrative support and teaching support can be considered external practices.

International practices, are the practices that Erasmus students make as a continuation of a stay in another university; those that students make through grants from other entities and in which there is no foreign university as a partner; or a student is made to a company abroad without having a foreign university as a partner.

Requirements for students to make an agreement

Bachelor's degree students

The undergraduate students can enroll in the Business Practices course (12 credits), provided that they have passed 18 credits from the 3B and must have a Business Enrollment formalized before they start, If this is matriculated flexibly during the academic year.

Once you have been chosen to do the curricular practice and before doing any procedure you should contact the to authorize the practice.

The student will seek an academic tutor from the field of practice between the faculty assigned to the center that will carry out the academic tutoring tasks, in case you can not find it, you can contact the that will be able to advise on which professors are experts on the subject.

Once the enrollment of the curricular external academic practice has been formalized, the student will have at most a natural year to have evaluated the subject of Practices in Business.

 

Curricular practices of Master's students

The Master's student will be able to enroll in the practical subjects in company (15 credits), and as a general rule, he or she must have passed a minimum of 15 ECTS in the masters of 120 ECTS can be exempted from this Requirement for students who have completed internships in the degree course and the company proposes a continuity in the master's degree. The school will determine the conditions and limitations.

It will not be necessary to have approved any credit in the masters of 60 ECTS to practice.

Extracurricular practices of the Degree students

The teaching center will designate an academic tutor among the faculty assigned to the center that will carry out the tasks of academic tutoring.

o the effect that the realization of extra curricular academic practices does not interfere negatively with their academic performance, the student will be able to realize an agreement of educative cooperation whenever it is in the following situation:

  • Have passed a minimum of 120 ECTS.
  • Have passed a minimum of 16 credits in the previous semester (or those credits that you have left to finish the studies).
  • You can only have approved less than 16 credits, at most, in a semester once the 120 ECTS have been approved.


Extracurricular practicesof Master's students

The Master's student, as a general rule, must have passed a minimum of 15 ECTS in the masters of 120 ECTS, students who have completed internships in the degree and the same will be exempt from this requirement. Company proposes a continuity in the master's degree. The school will determine the conditions and limitations.

It will not be necessary to have approved any credit in the masters of 60 ECTS do the practices.

Be enrolled

Students must be enrolled during the internship period. When the student conducting an educational cooperation agreement is entitled to cease to be legitimized to continue participating in the University-Company educational cooperation programs, it is necessary to initiate the procedure for the processing of the diligence of termination of the agreement of educational cooperation, which the company will process through the Intranet.


Number of hours

Up to 20 hours a week can be done and students who are doing their final year's degree or degree in the collaborating entity or practice within the period from July 1 to September 15 will be able to do Up to 40 hours a week and the schedule of the internships may not coincide with the hours of the courses enrolled.

There will be no possibility to carry out external practices for more than 900 hours in the same academic year (considering this as the period between September 16 of the year in which the course begins and the 15 of September of the following year).

Throughout the studies the student can dedicate to the external practices a maximum of hours depending on the duration of the syllabus:

Degree of 240 ECTS: maximum 1800h
Master of 60 ECTS: maximum 600 hours
Master of 90 ECTS: maximum 900 hours

Master of 120 ECTS maximum of 1200 hours

In the case of curricular academic practices, coinciding with the completion of the Final Project of Degree or Final Project of Master in the entity that makes the agreement, these limits can be exceeded, for a single time throughout the studies in a great deal of time, equal to the result of multiplying the credits enrolled in the TFG or TFM by 15, as long as the work plan of the practices and the completion of the Final Project of studies are coincident and the practice is tutored by the Director of the job. In other cases, this will not apply.

EIn the case of undergraduate curricular practices, the 12 credits are equivalent to 360 hours educational cooperation agreement (1 ECTS = 30h), which can be distributed between a minimum of 320h and a maximum of 360 hours of effective work, company If this work in the company is less than 360h and greater than or equal to 320h, the deputy director of Relations with Companies will evaluate and authorize, if applicable, the difference to be considered as hours of personal work until reaching 360h .

In the case of Master's curricular placements the 15 credits are equivalent to a 450-hour educational cooperation agreement (1 ECTS = 30h), which can be distributed between a minimum of 420h and a maximum of 450h effective work at the company. If this work in the company is less than 450h and greater than or equal to 420h, the deputy director of Relations with Companies will assess and authorize, if applicable, that the difference be considered as hours of personal work until reaching the 450h.

If the student's practice requires exceeding the limit of hours of a curricular, the difference will have to be contemplated in a new agreement as an extracurricular practice.


Insurance

School insurance must be available while the agreement is valid, this is mandatory when enrolling for those under the age of 28. If you are over 28 years old, must be formalized, for this purpose, the UPC has signed an agreement with the CONFIDE Insurance Corridor. About this subject you can inform the secretary.

Currently, the school insurance covers periods of one year from September 16 to September 15 of the following year.

With regard to Social Security, the student will provide his affiliation number to the entity so that he can sign up.

 

Do not maintain a contractual relationship with the company in which the practices are carried out.

Procedure

1.Search offers

To access the list of current agreements offers you must access (Intranet -> Industry relations -> Business Practices -> Offers). Please note that if you do not meet the academic requirements to participate as a student you will not see the offers.

Also the search for an offer can be done by the student on his own and in this case inform the company that there is a procedure to carry out an educational cooperation agreement that can be consulted on this link.

2.2. Submit your curriculum

Within each offer you will find the way to contact the company to send your curriculum.

3. Decide if I want to do a curricular or extracurricular practice

Once you are selected and before the entity processes the agreement you must comment to the entity the type of practice you wish to make, since once an agreement has begun you can not change the mode in the same agreement, you will need to do do a new one.

4. Procedure to do a curricular practice

5. Documentation to be delivered

3 copies of the agreement duly completed, sealed and signed by the company and the student

  • 3 copies of the Work Plan completed and signed by the company tutor (Annex I).

All signed documentation must be delivered 10 working days before the agreement begins in case of extracurricular practices and 20 working days in the case of curricular practices in the Academic Secretary of the ETSETB to carry out the timely procedures and to be signed by Academic positions of the school and once this is done, a copy of the agreement will be sent by mail to the institution and the student.

In case the delivery deadline is not fulfilled, the school may reject the agreement and request it to begin at a later date. Under no circumstances will a student begin the practices without the agreement signed by all parts.


Specific before the validation of the agreement according to the cases:

  • Foreign students or exchanges: they must bring the NIE of a valid student for the entire period of the agreement.

  • TFG and TFM if it is made to the entity: the "Work Plan Detail" and the TFG or TFM registration must be presented.

  • Students of 28 years of age or older and exchange students who do not have completed school insurance must complete a copy of the insurance cover for the private insurance policy (accident policy for university students CONFIDE) , which can be contracted through the web site: http://www.confidecorreduria.es/Univers-UPC/

 

Documentation to be provided by the student during the implementation of Curricular Practices in the interviews with the academic tutor of the school: Each of these interviews should not last longer than 30 minutes.

  • Before the 3 weeks of starting the internship. Where will the PDR (Preliminary Design Review) be presented, according to the attached template [Project Proposal and Work Plan]

  • Before 8 weeks of starting the internship. Where he will be exposed his evolution and the deviations with respect to the initial planning. [Critical Review]

  • A week before. Where the student will send a FR (Final Report) document of the practices.[Final Report]

6. Evaluation

Curricular Practices

n order to be able to evaluate the practices in company, it is necessary for the student to carry out valuation surveys (Appendix II and III), which will be found on the intranet, and that the company's tutor should submit the Activity report by the student to the academic tutor, so that they can be evaluated with the corresponding numerical note.

Extracurricular Practices

In order to be able to evaluate the practices in company it is necessary that both the student and the company carry out the assessment survey (studying: Appendices II and III and tutor in the entity Annex, IV), which you will find in the corresponding intranets , to be evaluated: Apt / Not Apt.

7. Credits

Curricular Practices

Once the practice has been carried out and evaluated with the corresponding grade, it will be incorporated into its academic record (12 ECTS in degrees and 15 ECTS in masters).

PExtracurricular Practices

These practices do not have an academic recognition in the student's file, but will be reflected in the SET (European Title Supplement).

Economic compensation

In compensation for the practice carried out, the entity undertakes to pay directly to the student an amount, in the form of a scholarship or study aid, that is fixed at the time of signing the agreement (This amount will be of minimum € 8 gross per hour) that will be accrued monthly.

A retention on the study aid received by the student in practices, in the form of personal income tax, is applied, as determined by current tax and labor regulations. Consult the website of l'Agència Tributària.
