The ETSETB holds the graduation ceremony for the master's degrees of the 2025-2026 academic year

The Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB) held the graduation ceremony for the students of the master's degrees in Telecommunications Engineering (MET), Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT), Electronic Engineering (MEE), Engineering Physics (MEF) and Semiconductor Engineering and Microelectronic Design (MSEMD), corresponding to the 2025-2026 academic year, on Thursday 2 July.

The ceremony, which took place in the Auditorium of the Vèrtex building on the UPC's North Campus, brought together students, families, teaching staff, institutional representatives and collaborating companies to celebrate the culmination of an academic stage and the beginning of a new professional stage.

The session was chaired by the director of the ETSETB, Alba Pagès-Zamora, and included the lecture "What you really learned here", given by Juan Diego Polo, telecommunications engineer, ETSETB alumnus and business consultant and trainer in artificial intelligence. In his speech, he invited the graduates to reflect on the learning acquired during their university years, beyond technical knowledge, and on the challenges they will face throughout their professional careers.

Next, Francesc Rey, deputy director of corporate relations, led the presentation of the Company Awards, sponsored by collaborating companies and institutions of the ETSETB, which recognise academic excellence, the best academic records and the best master's theses of the different programmes. The award winners of this edition were:

• Pol Simón i Campreciós, COIT - Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación Award for the best academic record of the master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering (MET), presented by Francisco Viviani, delegate dean of the COETC, Col·legi Oficial d'Enginyers Telecomunicació Catalunya.
• Kevin Giancarlo Castro, i2CAT Award for the best master's thesis of the MET, presented by Roger Onnen, director of the People and Talent Area of the i2CAT Foundation.
• Wenli Pan, telecos.cat Award for the best academic record of the master's degree in Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT), presented by Gonçal Bonhomme, president of the Catalan Association of Telecommunications Engineering and Digital Technologies.
• Noa Jie Vives Zaguirre, Telefónica Chair Award for the best master's thesis of the MATT. As she was unable to attend the event, the diploma was collected by the head of studies of the master's degree, Javier Ruiz Hidalgo. The award was presented by Lluís Jofre, director of the Telefónica Chair.
• Cai Arcos Botias, Schneider Electric Award for the best academic record of the master's degree in Electronic Engineering (MEE), presented by Jordi Batlle, senior principal cybersecurity analyst at Schneider Electric.
• Xavier Íñiguez Fainé, MPS - Monolithic Power Systems Award for the best master's thesis of the MEE, presented by Enric Rodríguez, general manager of MPS Spain.
• Joan Cano i Martínez, IDEADED Award for the best academic record of the master's degree in Semiconductor Engineering and Microelectronic Design (MSEMD), presented by Sergi Claramunt Ruiz, head of device characterisation at IDEADED.
• David Valero Guillén, Neuron IP Award for the best master's thesis of the MSEMD, presented by Úrsula Gutierro, project manager at Neuron IP.

Following this, Anna Umbert, academic secretary of the ETSETB, introduced one of the most emotional moments of the ceremony: the presentation of diplomas to the graduating students of the five master's degrees. The event was led by the respective heads of studies: Javier Ruiz (MET and MATT), Juan Manuel Moreno Arostegui (MEE), Pol Lloveras (MEF) and Jordi Cosp (MSEMD).

The closing of the event was carried out by Beatriz Otero, rector's delegate attached to the Office of the Vice-Rector for Digital Strategy of the UPC. After the traditional singing of the Gaudeamus Igitur, graduates, families, teaching staff, and representatives of the collaborating companies shared refreshments in Telecos Square.
