IMATEC Seminar

General information

Preparatory seminar for degrees in Telecommunications Engineering

Aimed at students of the bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Technologies and Services Engineering (GRETST, specialisations in Telecommunications Systems, Audiovisual Systems and Network Systems), the bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering (GREELEC) and the bachelor's and master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering (PARS).

230339 Introduction to Mathematics and Telecommunications Engineering (IMATEC)

The ETSETB offers an optional seminar of 3 ECTS credits aimed at new GRETST, GREELEC and PARS students who, before starting their first-year subjects, want to improve their preparation in mathematics, both in terms of their knowledge and their work and study habits. Likewise, throughout the semester, students collaborate on engineering projects carried out by students in the last years of the degrees.

The objective of this seminar is multiple: firstly, to present the knowledge and level that students should have before taking the mathematics subjects in the first semester. Secondly, to promote the study and work methods that are necessary to successfully pass these subjects. Thirdly, to give new students a first-hand view of the challenges associated with the development of engineering projects and to understand the purpose of many of the subjects taken on the degrees.

In the first part of the seminar, time will be dedicated to students' directed and personal work, in addition to presenting the topics that must be mastered to begin engineering studies with rigour and mathematical formalism. In the second part and throughout the course, students attend four sessions (at the beginning of the course, after the week of mid-semester exams and at the end of the course) in which various activities linked to engineering projects by fourth-year students are carried out.
