ETSETB committed to 6GLabNet
May 21, 2026
On Wednesday 8 April, the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB) took part in a landmark event with the official presentation of the 6GLabNet. This project aims to create a network of cutting-edge laboratories for the experimentation and development of 6G technologies, both for research and companies, as well as for the training of future telecommunications students, thereby strengthening the role of our school and the UPC as international references in the ICT sector.
During the event, our professors and researchers José Antonio Lázaro and Anna Umbert highlighted that "this infrastructure will allow our researchers and students to work with the tools that will shape the society of 2030". In this regard, ETSETB is committed to ensuring that our undergraduate and master's students can train within 6GLabNet, a real experimentation laboratory connected to the needs of the industrial sector and the challenges of global connectivity.
During the welcome session, attendees were able to closely explore the sensor-equipped vehicle for assisted driving that is part of the European project 6GEWOC.
The event featured strong institutional representation. During the speeches, the importance of collaboration between universities, research centres and public administration was emphasised in order to ensure technological sovereignty and European leadership in the coming decade.
