CATEL
Nature
The Academic Commission of the Bachelor's Degree in Engineering of Telecommunication Technologies and Services (CATEL) is the commission responsible for the management of the Bachelor's Degree in Engineering of Telecommunication Technologies and Services (GRETST) in the competencies entrusted by the School Board and the Permanent Commission. These competencies include the analysis of the curricular progress of students, the management associated with the School's Quality Plan, and the preparation of self-assessment and accreditation reports for the GRETST.
Exceptionally, and in duly justified cases, the director of the School may authorize exceptions to this regulation.
Functions
The functions of CATEL are:
a) Analyze the evolution of students within each curricular block of GRETST, in accordance with the criteria established by the School's governing body responsible for student assessment, and submit a proposal for actions to the specific commission that approves curricular assessment.
b) Supervise the tutoring process for students with insufficient performance.
c) Analyze the indicators of the reports prepared by the management team as indicated by the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIQ) of the School and make improvement proposals.
d) Submit the annual follow-up report for GRETST defined in the SGIQ of the School.
e) All functions entrusted by the School Board, the Permanent Commission, and, in particular, those granted by the SGIQ of the School.
f) Within its scope of action, develop the regulations established by the different governing bodies of the School, as well as make necessary proposals.
g) Anything that can contribute to the proper fulfillment of its objectives and is not within the competence of a governing body of the School.
Composition
CATEL will be composed of:
a) The director of the School.
b) The head of studies of GRETST, who will preside over it.
c) The coordinators of the mentions of GRETST.
d) Four professors from different departments, ensuring that their teaching activity collectively covers the 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, and 3A semesters of GRETST.
e) Two students from GRETST who have completed the initial phase.
The members corresponding to sections a), b), c), and d) will constitute the so-called Advisory Council of GRETST, which will function as an advisory body to the head of studies of GRETST.
The president of the commission may invite a member of Academic Secretariat, assigned by the head of the Unit for the Management of Bachelor's and Master's Studies of the ETSETB School, who will act in an advisory capacity, with a voice but without a vote, when the meeting's subject requires it.
In each session, the president of the commission will designate among the attendees the person who will act as secretary.
Mandate and Renewal
The mandate of the student representatives will be annual. Vacancies will be renewed before the ordinary sessions. Students are appointed by the president of the commission, once the Student Delegation has been consulted, and are chosen from students who have completed the Initial Phase of their studies.
The mandate of non-tenured professors will be for 2 years. They are appointed by the president of the commission, once the departments that teach the degree and the director of the School have been consulted.
