2017 I-COM Data Science Hackathon
The Data Science Hackathon has been expanded to include TWO separate challenges for teams to compete in.
Now in its third year, the I-COM Data Science Hackathon, pioneered by I-COM to be the first public CMO-focused global competition connecting the magic of Data Science with the world of Marketing, announces TWO simultaneous challenges for the 2017 I-COM Data Science Hackathon taking place April 21-25, as a pre-event to the I-COM Global Summit (April 24-27) in Porto, Portugal.
1- The 2017 Intel Challenge
"What is the impact of discussions in social media and brand health indicators on advertising effectiveness for high consideration purchases such as consumer PC sales in the US?"
2- The 2017 Unilever Challenge
“Can digital strategy information and community word of mouth predict which emerging sustainability-first FMCG brands will resonate with the community?”
MISSION
The I-COM Data Science Hackathons focus on solving real problems and achieving results, often accelerating to outcomes that normally take months of work to achieve or replicate.
They offer brands a unique opportunity to unlock new and creative approaches to crack business problems using Data Science while accelerating development time, reducing risk at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional internal approaches and getting fresh perspectives and insights to solving business challenges.
FORMAT
The I-COM Data Science Hackathons consist of a 36-hour marathon where a total of up to 22 teams develop algorithms using data science analytics to solve predictive modeling challenges on marketers' datasets. There are two tiers of participants:
• Tier 1 - Sponsored Teams comprised of Master Scientists
• Tier 2 - Sponsored Teams comprised of Scientists (incl. senior Mentors)
Students entering independently
Finalists will have the opportunity to present at the 8th edition of the I-COM Global Summit, April 24-27th.
