19/09/2025

El proper 8 d'octubre tindrà lloc la conferència 'WiyoTAG: From the idea to the silicon. An example of low-power ASIC design for IoT applications' a càrrec de Daniel Fernández Martínez, director del departament de microeletrònica de Wiyo Technologies.

WiyoTAG: 'From the idea to the silicon. An example of low-power ASIC design for IoT applications'

Abstract: In the first part of this talk, the history of the WiyoTAG ASIC will be presented, specifically, how a three-bullet PowerPoint can become an innovative, fully-fledged chip capable of communicating via WiFi without any power supply. In the second part, we will go a little deeper, and we will describe some of the ASIC subcircuits and blocks (oscillator, bandgap, charge pump…), including their circuit topology and the research articles we used during the design.

Dr. Daniel Fernández Martínez  is the Microelectronics Director of Wiyo Technologies, where he supervised teams of up to six microelectronics researchers designing ultra-low-power microelectronics circuits for battery-less WiFi-based RFID tags. During his career he also developed neural and retinal implants for real-time recording and excitation of neuronal activity, low-power, low-noise analog and digital signal-conditioning chains for sensors and actuators, Sigma-Delta ADCs, PLL clock recovery circuits for optical communications, precision temperature references and low-noise radiation-hardened ASICs for spacecraft and satellite applications.
