On 15 July, the Vèrtex auditorium on the North Campus hosted the graduation ceremony for the new graduates of the 6th graduating class of the bachelor's degree in data science and engineering (GCED). This degree, taught by the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB), the School of Mathematics and Statistics (FME) and the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB), brought together students, families, and teaching staff in a ceremony to celebrate the students' graduation.
The ceremony began with an institutional welcome and a speech by the director of the ETSETB, Alba Pagès-Zamora, who addressed a few words to the new graduates. Next, the attendees listened to the presentation "Graduating the vision of the game", given by Sergi Oliva, who holds a doctoral degree in computing from the UPC.
After the speech by the sponsor of the graduating class, Marta Arias Vicente, a professor from the Department of Computer Science at the UPC, came the most anticipated moment of the afternoon: the awarding of the diplomas.
To close the ceremony, the students took to the stage to read a speech and perform a short musical repertoire on piano, cello, and violin. The day ended in the Vèrtex gardens, where graduates and their guests shared an aperitif.
The Telecommunications School would like to congratulate all the new graduates for their hard work over these years. Keep moving forward in this new stage and best of luck in your future professional projects!
