Procedure
Direct admission or transfer from another university and/or official university studies
Study type
BACHELOR'S DEGREES
Who can apply?

▪ Students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree at another UPC centre or another university who wish to continue the same degree at ETSETB.
▪ Students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree at ETSETB, another UPC centre or another university who wish to transfer to another bachelor’s degree at ETSETB.
▪ Students who have studied on curricula that have already been phased out without having completed them, at ETSETB, another UPC centre or another university, and who wish to gain admission to a bachelor’s degree at ETSETB that does not replace the phased-out degree.

If you wish to enrol on the degree that replaces the phased-out degree, consult the following procedure: Adaptation due to the phasing out of the curriculum.

Requirements

Only degrees offering places through direct admission or transfer from another university and/or university studies can be accessed through this route. See the offer of places.

  • Admission requirements:
  1. Recognition of a minimum of 30 ECTS in the degree programme to which admission is requested, corresponding to compulsory subjects. In no case is the final degree project recognised.
  2. Not being affected by the progression regulations in the original studies, if these were completed at UPC. A student who has been deemed unsuccessful under sections 5.4 and 5.5 of the UPC degree progression regulations, or who has been detached under section 5.8, is considered affected throughout the entire detachment period.

If these requirements are not met, a place must be obtained through the University pre-enrolment process.

  • Exclusion conditions:

The following students may not be admitted through this route:

▪ Students enrolled in a degree at UPC who only have the final degree project left to complete in their original studies.
▪ Students coming from other universities or who have studied under earlier university regulations and who, once recognition has been completed, have fewer than 60 ECTS remaining to complete the degree to which they wish to gain admission.

These restrictions do not apply to students who have studied a curriculum at UPC that has already been phased out and have not completed it.

  • Selection criteria:

If the number of admission applications submitted is higher than the number of places available at the centre, applications will be ranked according to the following criteria:

  • Studies belonging to the same field of knowledge
  • Weighting of students' academic records
Procedure details

1. Gather the documentation related to the original studies:

If you are a student or graduate of university studies outside Spain:

(*) All these documents must be official, original and issued by the competent authorities, and must be legalised through diplomatic channels. They must also be accompanied by an official translation into Spanish or Catalan. For more information about the legalisation and translation of documents, see this link(opens in a new window)

2. Access the UPC Electronic Office(opens in a new window) and submit the application “Request for direct admission to UPC studies due to change of studies, centre or university”, where you must attach the required documentation according to your original studies.

3. When we receive the request, we will generate the fee for the recognition/validation study and we will inform you by email so that you can make the payment within a maximum period of 5 days. Until we receive proof of payment of the fee, the recognition/validation study will not be carried out. You must send the payment receipt to stating in the subject line of the email “Payment receipt for recognition/validation study fee” and indicating your details (full name and DNI/NIE/passport).

4. You will receive the result of the recognition/validation study by email.

5. The direct admission decision (for transfer from another university and/or university studies) will be published on this same website on the date indicated in the Academic Procedures Calendar(opens in a new window). Only students who have paid the fee for the recognition/validation study within the deadline and submitted all required documentation will appear on the decision.

6. If you are listed as admitted in the decision, you will be able to enrol on the date and time shown in your e-Secretaria.

Additional relevant information

VERY IMPORTANT:

Within the deadline for submitting admission documentation for transfer from another university and/or university studies established in the Academic Registration and Procedures Calendar, the following procedure must be completed:

    • Students coming from a Spanish public university (not UPC) must submit the academic transcript transfer receipt that they will have requested and paid for at their original university.

    • Students coming from a UPC centre (except ETSETB) must request internal academic transcript transfer from their original centre. The original centre does not provide any document to the student, but the procedure must be processed in Prisma before the enrolment date.

    • Foreign students must submit a copy of their NIE if they did not do so when requesting admission by transfer from another university and/or university studies.

    • Students coming from ETSETB do not need to complete any procedure.

Academic conditions for adaptation:

Details of the adaptation process according to the grade obtained for the subjects in the original academic record and in accordance with the equivalences established in the corresponding adaptation table:

  • Passed subjects (grade between 5 and 10): these are recognised in the destination academic record.
  • Compensable subjects (grade between 4 and 4.9): these are recognised in the destination academic record directly if a 1:1 equivalence rule is applied, keeping the same grade, or the weighted average is applied if a 2:1 equivalence rule is applied. Example of a 2:1 rule where the original grades are 4.8 C and 6.1 Pass: the grade of the subject recognised in the destination academic record is 5.4 Pass.

Progression regulations:

  • First year: adapted credits are taken into account for first-year academic progression.
  • Initial stage: if you adapt and, in the destination academic record, after the adaptation process, you do not pass the Initial Stage, you are again subject to the Progression Regulations with regard to the Initial Stage (you must pass it in 4 semesters if studying full-time, or 8 semesters if studying part-time).

Visiting students at the UPC may take a maximum of 60 ECTS credits on a bachelor's degree and a maximum of 30 ECTS credits on a master's degree, given that these are also the maximum number of credits that may be recognised in their academic record if they are later admitted to the same degree as regular students. 1. Download and fill in the application form (Català, Español, English) and the personal data sheet (Català, Español, English)

2. Once completed, you must upload them, along with the required documents specified in the form itself, to the UPC Electronic Headquarters, choosing the procedure "Application to the director, dean for academic matters" and applying for admission as a visiting student.

The application will be assessed by the head of studies of the degree to which admission is sought. If accepted, the student will be notified of the decision and will be assigned an enrolment date and time.

Additional relevant information
Visiting students have the right to be assessed and to receive a certificate stating that they have studied at the UPC.
Deadlines
Check the visiting student admission and enrolment calendar in the calendars for specific procedures section.
Economic cost

The economic conditions applied to visiting students are established by the agreement reached by the Economic Committee of the Board of Trustees (In Catalan) each academic year.

Exemptions, discounts, and surcharges: Visiting students will not be subject to any surcharge for retaking subjects, nor to any of the exemptions and discounts set out in the Government of Catalonia's decree establishing the fees for the provision of academic services at public universities each year.
