Bachelor's + Master's in Telecommunications Engineering (PARS)
The Academic Successive Pathway Program (PARS) in Telecommunications Engineering allows students to acquire the competencies required for the regulated profession of Telecommunications Engineering through integrated Bachelor's and Master's studies. It is the Double Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, associated with the conventional telecommunications engineering.
Within the framework of degrees adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the competencies for professional practice are acquired in some cases through the Bachelor's degree and in others through the Master's degree. For this reason, ETSETB-UPC Telecos has designed this integrated academic program that qualifies students for the practice of Telecommunications Engineering. Graduates of this program, with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering of Technologies and Telecommunications Services (GRETST) and a Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering (MET), have direct access and preferential admission to the Master's program that grants professional recognition.
In addition to providing professional qualifications, this pathway allows students to pursue the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a flexible manner. An integrated curriculum is followed, combining both Bachelor's and Master's study plans, with a progression from foundational and general courses to more specialized ones.
Students in the Integrated Program have their own personalized plan based on their academic performance, enabling them to complete the program with excellence in 5 years.
The specific university pre-enrollment code for these studies is 31111.
What is PARS?
PARS stands for Academic Successive Pathway Program.
This is how we refer to a study program that, upon completion, awards a double degree in Bachelor's in Engineering of Technologies and Telecommunications Services (GRETST) and Master's in Telecommunications Engineering (MET).
The program organizes the subjects and content of both programs logically, making it easier to link the Bachelor's and Master's degrees and to start Master's level content during the fourth year of the Bachelor's program, before completing the Bachelor's Final Project (TFG).
What are the benefits of PARS?
1. Provides access to the Telecommunications Engineer profession.
Regulated by Orders CIN/352/2009 and CIN/355/2009. Only graduates who obtain these qualifications, integrated into PARS, can practice as telecommunications engineers with full responsibilities.
2. Progressive course itinerary
As a specific double degree program between Bachelor's and Master's in Telecommunications Engineering, the curriculum is designed to progress from more general to more specialized content. This creates a more coherent pathway that cannot be achieved when pursuing both degrees independently.
3. Individual mentoring
The Bachelor's + Master's double degree program is a path of excellence. Students are assigned an individual mentor at the start of the program, and based on their academic performance, they will have the opportunity to complete the 240+120 ECTS of the study plans in 5 years (instead of the 6 years required when pursuing the study plans separately).
4. Completion of the Final Project at the end of the program
The Final Project of the Academic Program consists of an individual project, consisting of an initial part (Bachelor's Final Project, TFG) and an advanced contribution (Master's Final Project, TFM) completed at the end of the program itinerary. This allows for more ambitious objectives and outcomes.
5. Completion of the Final Project in different modalities:
-
Internationally (at prestigious foreign universities).
-
At a company (through paid internships to initiate job placement, with the possibility of a dual degree).
-
In a research group (to continue with a Ph.D.).
6. Flexibility
Enrolling in PARS does not require pursuing the Master's degree. A student in the academic program can decide at any point in their trajectory to only pursue the Bachelor's degree and obtain the degree for these studies without completing the entire PARS program.
7. Access to the PARS Scholarship Program
The school offers a scholarship program: TALENT, PARITY, EQUALITY for PARS. These scholarships are available to students enrolled in PARS with excellent academic results.
Each of the 2 scholarships, covering the tuition fees for 2A, 2B, and 3A, a learning scholarship for 3B and 4A, and a cooperative education agreement for the subsequent years until the completion of the studies, prioritizes academic excellence, female talent, and social equality, respectively. This scholarship program ensures that students with the capability to pursue these studies can cover the associated costs adequately.
Curriculum
The curriculum contains the subjects from GRETST and MET, integrated in a more consecutive and coherent manner.
