There are grants to undertake studies and traineeships at higher education institutions, research centres or companies.

Please bear in mind:

Two types of grant, depending on the type of stay:

  • Erasmus+ studies
  • Erasmus+ traineeships

UPC-Europe programme: This study mobility does not have an associated Erasmus+ grant. It is intended for the second year of a double degree or countries that are not part of the Erasmus+ programme. More information

UPC-Company programme: Students who go to a company with this programme receive remuneration from the company itself or, if it is a European company, they could be eligible for the traineeships programme grant. More information

This programme aims to recognise the academic excellence of Erasmus+ students and promote educational inclusion and equal opportunities.

Mobint AGAUR

These are grants for students at Catalan universities who have been selected for an international academic mobility stay, in order to contribute to funding the expenses entailed by studying in other countries.

Two types of grants are established:

  • Type A: an academic stay, involving academic recognition, within the framework of the Erasmus programme, aimed at students at Catalan universities. This type is reserved for countries in the programme.

  • Type B: an academic stay, involving academic recognition, within the framework of international mobility programmes, aimed at students at Catalan universities.

European Funding Guide

For stays in Europe, the European Funding Guide offers scholarships and other financial aid. Its database automatically selects the scholarships that best fit each student's CV, allowing them to find financial aid quickly and free of charge. This is the largest web portal in Europe, with content on more than 12,000 scholarships, funding options and awards worth 27 million euros. Of these, 1,100 scholarships are specifically aimed at university students in Spain.

Grants are offered to pursue postgraduate studies abroad: master's degrees, doctoral degrees or pre-doctoral scientific and technical research projects.

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training publishes various calls for applications for scholarship programmes and mobility grants for students.

Germany

The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) offers several scholarship programmes to study and conduct research in Germany. On their website, they also advertise scholarships from other institutions.

Latin America - CINDA programme

The Interuniversity Development Centre (CINDA) promotes mobility to universities in Latin America that belong to the CINDA network of universities. See here the list of CINDA member universities.

Latin America - SMILE-Magalhães

The Magalhães network is a consortium of universities in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean created to promote and support exchange between students and graduates of these centres. Within the Magalhães network, the SMILE project is an exchange programme for university students with academic recognition. See here the list of Magalhães member universities.

Australia

The website of LAE España, which specialises in international education, provides information on the scholarships available to take undergraduate or postgraduate courses at different Australian universities.

Belgium

The Belgian Tourist Office for Flanders and Brussels publishes the blog erasmusenflandes.com to promote the university, cultural and youth environment of Flemish cities. The "Erasmus correspondents" selected by the Belgian Tourist Office for Flanders and Brussels will be responsible for publishing entries on the blog.

Every year, the Belgian Tourist Office for Flanders and Brussels offers an "Erasmus correspondent scholarship".

USA - Generalitat de Catalunya Balsells programme

The Balsells scholarship programme offers funding for students who wish to carry out their bachelor's or master's thesis, and/or master's or doctoral studies at the following US universities or campuses: University of Colorado Boulder and University of California, Irvine, CA.

USA - Fulbright scholarships

The Fulbright programme offers scholarships for postgraduate studies at US universities in any discipline. The scholarship covers tuition fees, travel expenses, purchase of books and materials, living costs, and medical and accident insurance. More information ("Extension of studies" call).

Europe - European Space Agency (ESA)

The European Space Agency (ESA) offers the following programmes aimed at university students:

  • Spin Your Thesis! offers bachelor's and master's students the opportunity to conduct scientific or technological research under hypergravity conditions at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
  • Drop Your Thesis! offers bachelor's and master's students the opportunity to conduct scientific or technological research under microgravity conditions at the ZARM Drop Tower in Bremen, Germany.
  • REXUS/BEXUS These programmes are offered in collaboration with the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The REXUS and BEXUS programmes offer students the opportunity to carry out experiments with sounding rockets (REXUS) and stratospheric balloons (BEXUS). Each flight carries a payload consisting solely of the students' experiments. Both REXUS and BEXUS are launched from the Esrange Space Center (SSC) in , Sweden.

France

In France, financial aid for accommodation can be obtained.

The Avenir scholarship programme was created by the French Embassy in Spain, a group of collaborating French and Spanish companies, and French higher education and excellence centres.
Avenir scholarships offer excellence scholarships aimed at young Spanish people who wish to study for a year or undertake a traineeship in France.

Each academic year, the Norwegian government offers, through the Research Council of Norway, a series of scholarships for advanced students and young researchers. The scholarships are open to all areas of research and academic studies, and their maximum duration is one academic year. More information

Switzerland - CERN

CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) is the largest particle physics research laboratory in the world. This centre offers different programmes to recruit trainee students, recent graduates or those with brief experience. Check the scholarships or programmes they offer on the websites of the UPC Academic Management Service or CERN.

Switzerland - Swiss-European Mobility Programme

Switzerland does not participate in the Erasmus+ programme; however, to ensure the continuity of mobility within this framework, there is the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).

The characteristics of this programme are:

  • Study mobility will be based on inter-institutional agreements between Switzerland and higher education institutions that hold the Erasmus charter.
  • Swiss higher education institutions can apply for the grant for both incoming students (students from European programme countries going to Switzerland) and outgoing students undertaking mobility with an Erasmus+ programme country.
  • Swiss higher education institutions will pay the grants for incoming mobility directly to the beneficiaries.
  • Grants will be available for studies (SMS) and traineeships (SMTD). Traineeships in Switzerland will only receive a grant if they are coordinated by a Swiss higher education institution.

ICEX Internationalisation Grants

A scholarship programme promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism that offers students the opportunity to complete their training in international business management and gain practical international experience.

EUROPA Grants - Ciutat de Valls Foundation

The Ciutat de Valls Foundation announces annual grants for university students residing in one of the municipalities of Alt Camp and who can certify the award of an academic stay, with academic recognition, at any foreign university within the framework of international mobility programmes, with the exception of students who have benefited from these grants in any previous academic year. Non-university master's degrees, postgraduate studies, university extension and doctoral studies are excluded.
